Low set-up times
The third product division of SMW-Autoblok includes stationary clamping systems. They are designed in particular for production in machining centers. With the new WPS workpiece positioning system, the workpiece or a clamping operation is clamped directly in the clamping modules provided for this purpose using high-precision standard clamping pins. The WPS system promises a drastic reduction in set-up times with its central quick actuation. This allows the clamping modules to be opened and closed in a matter of seconds with 3.5 rotations. The actuation is manual and media-free. The use of the new APS zero-point clamping system from SMW-AUTOBLOK enables the user to reduce set-up times by up to 90%. The APS zero-point clamping system can be used throughout the entire machining process, such as turning, milling, measuring, eroding or grinding. As a result, the user benefits from a considerable reduction in costs by reducing set-up times while at the same time increasing machine availability throughout the entire production process. The clamping modules are available in various designs and sizes. Low installation height thanks to compact design, maximum precision and repeat accuracy < 0.005 mm, wear-resistant thanks to hardened components and extra-hard protective coating, maximum pull-in forces, modules completely sealed (proofline), compatible with workpiece positioning system WPS.
Five-axis clamps and power clamps for automation
With the new ST5-2G centric clamp, SMW-Autoblok is expanding its portfolio for machine vices in the five-axis clamp sector. The new ST5-2G is fully sealed and therefore offers protection against contamination. The mechanical actuation has a high power transmission and offers high clamping forces for maximum workpiece retention. The high-precision manufacturing and hardened components ensure very high machining quality and process reliability. Thanks to the integrated interfaces, the ST5-2G can be installed directly on the APS or WPS zero-point clamping system. This eliminates set-up times and costs. The ST5-2G is available in different sizes and is supplied with either standard gripper or sintergrip top jaws.
Sintergrip enables secure workpiece clamping with a clamping depth of just 3.5 millimetres. This allows the workpiece to be machined safely and completely in a single clamping operation. This saves material costs, especially when raw material costs have a significant impact on the unit price. In addition, previously required work steps, such as pre-stamping the workpieces, are no longer necessary - this saves investment costs and upstream processing costs. It is also much faster, as the workpiece can now be clamped immediately. Power clamps are either pneumatic, hydraulic or spring-actuated, clamping centrically or against a fixed jaw. Two different jaw strokes are also available: normal stroke for maximum clamping forces and long stroke for extended jaw stroke. The highly compact power clamps offer the option of monitoring the jaw position and air system control (type STV and SL). They are perfect for automation or Industry 4.0 applications.
