Centering tips
The range of centering points comprises a very extensive portfolio.
There are rotating and fixed tips with/without forcing nut, with/without carbide insert, for interchangeable inserts, etc.
Features:
- Body hardened and ground
- High concentricity and concentricity
- Speed up to 7,000 rpm
- Max. Workpiece weight up to 5'000 kg
- Ball bearing service life of up to 2,000 operating hours
- Mounting sizes MK-1 - MK-7
The rotating center point allows high speeds and is used on lathes, grinding machines and measuring machines.
The stationary center point is always more precise and stiffer when running, but causes friction. For this reason, carbide centering tips are predominantly used today to reduce abrasion on the centering cone surface. As a rule, all centers can be repaired, i.e. the centering cone surface can be reground or the ball bearings of the rotating centers can be replaced.
